THE BALLAD OF MONK'S LANE
Between the old head of Kinsale
And Clonakilty town
Where monks once prayed
Honey bees were buzzing around
Around Courtmacsherry
Mist rolls in from the sea
Curls around the turf smoke
Sucking in people like me
When you cross the threshold
You're dancing in the flame
Love's got your number
You've landed in Monk's Lane
The old monk was lonely
He'd lost himself in prayer
Remembering a fair young maid
Wishing she was here
Where the mist rolls in slowly
Rests on rebel hills
Love songs at midnight
Cure all ills
The old ghost is smiling
He slips in from the rain
He heard the song of love
Found it's voice in Monk's Lane
